Furniture brand Thuma is planning its first Colorado store at 257 Fillmore Street in Cherry Creek North.
Plans submitted to the City and County of Denver show the company occupying both floors of the existing two story building along Fillmore Street. The building sits on a roughly 3,500 square foot lot within the Cherry Creek North retail district.
The project includes an interior tenant improvement that will connect the two floors with a new staircase and convert the building into a single tenant retail showroom. Plans indicate the space will be used primarily for retail sales and service across both floors, with about 5,207 square feet dedicated to retail activity and an additional 598 square feet planned for an eating and drinking area on the ground floor.
Exterior improvements are relatively limited but designed to refresh the building and create a cohesive storefront for the new tenant. The proposal calls for painting the front portion of the building facing Fillmore Street in a dark onyx color while repairing and cleaning the existing facade.
The paint would apply to most of the solid exterior surfaces within roughly the first 15 feet of the street facing facade. Designers say the darker finish will unify the building under a single tenant while drawing attention to activity inside the store and addressing wear on the existing exterior.
The current application only seeks approval for the exterior paint color. Proposed signage shown in the plans is conceptual and will be submitted separately for review.
If approved, the project would introduce Thuma to the Cherry Creek retail district as the company expands its showroom footprint.
