The legacy of Colorado drag racing isn’t done burning rubber just yet. After 65 years of racing in Morrison, the Bandimere family closed their iconic speedway in 2023, but now they’re back on track with a new plan.

The Bandimeres have officially purchased 114 acres of land just off I-76 near Hudson, about 30 minutes northeast of Denver. The site once owned by Rocky’s Autos is the first piece of what could become a major motorsports destination.

They’re not stopping at 114 acres either. The family is negotiating to scoop up even more land nearby to make room for a full-fledged racing complex including drag strip, go-karts, maybe even a road course.

“This is just the beginning,” said John Bandimere Jr., noting the team is working through zoning and annexation processes.

No firm timeline yet, but the family’s goal is clear. They want to build something bigger, more modern, and more fan-friendly than the original Morrison setup. With the roar of engines now temporarily silenced, Colorado’s racing faithful have a new reason to get hyped.

A future Bandimere revival is officially in motion and this time, there’s space to grow.
