1849 Curtis Street

Downtown Denver has a new option for anyone looking to combine strength training, group fitness, Reformer Pilates, yoga and recovery under one roof.

THE Athletic Club occupies approximately 40,000 square feet across three levels at 1849 Curtis Street, within the larger Denver Place complex. While the club sits adjacent to The Ritz-Carlton, its main entrance is not inside or part of the hotel. From Curtis Street, visitors can access the club by walking up the steps between Denver Place and Granite Tower. The entrance sits at the top of the steps, directly across from Lilac Coffee.

Inside, the club is split between strength and performance training, mind-body programming and recovery. Members have access to free weights, Olympic lifting platforms, plate-loaded and selectorized equipment, cardio, functional and group HIIT training, personal training, Reformer Pilates and yoga. Recovery amenities include red light therapy, hydromassage, dry saunas, compression boots, hot-and-cold contrast therapy and towel service.

Club leadership is led by co-founder Nikole Marzorati, who brings nearly three decades of experience in the health club industry. Her career spans operations, development and business growth in the fitness industry where she helped build and operate clubs across markets from the Midwest and Texas to Tennessee. That experience now shapes THE Athletic Club, from its buildout and programming to the overall member experience.

Transforming the space into THE Athletic Club took roughly 10 months and required a major overhaul across all three levels. Much of the club was rebuilt from the ground up, including the lower level, where a former 25-meter indoor pool was converted into dedicated Reformer Pilates and yoga studios. Today, the space includes a roughly 3,000-square-foot yoga studio with heated floors alongside the club’s Reformer Pilates studio, creating a completely different experience from what once occupied the building. Community driven, THE Athletic Club’s concept is affordable luxury. To honor this, the approach toward strength and fitness, wellness, recovery and longevity can be conveniently executed all under one roof.

The address also carries a long fitness history. Before THE Athletic Club, the space was home to Forza Fitness. During Carmelo Anthony’s years with the Denver Nuggets, Forza featured a full basketball court known as “the Melo,” which was even used by the Golden State Warriors for an off-day practice in 2013. To adapt to modern needs, THE Athletic Club completely transformed the former basketball court to the highly curated main fitness floor seen today.

That evolution continues with new HYROX-focused programming, including a roughly 2,400-square-foot studio being adapted for the format. Club leadership says THE Athletic Club is the first in Denver to offer this specific HYROX and Les Mills programming partnership.

The timing lines up with HYROX making its Denver debut at the National Western Center this November. The club is also benefiting from growing activity around Denver Place and Granite Tower. Lilac Coffee opened directly across from the entrance earlier this year, while nearby 1900 Lawrence continues to add new office tenants, bringing more employees within walking distance.

Memberships start at $119 per month, with higher tiers adding services such as contrast therapy, compression and unlimited Reformer Pilates. The $189 Elite Plus membership includes full club access and unlimited Reformer Pilates, while qualifying first responders and Military personnel can join for $99 per month on the Executive Tier.

THE Athletic Club is located at 1849 Curtis Street within the Denver Place complex.
