TAG Restaurant Group has signed a lease for G&G Surf Club, a new seafood forward restaurant planned for 8100 E. Union Ave. in the Denver Tech Center.
The concept comes from Chef Troy Guard and will expand the Guard and Grace brand with a menu inspired by Guard’s Hawaiian upbringing and West Coast roots. The restaurant is expected to open in fall 2026.
G&G Surf Club will bring a new direction to the Guard and Grace name while keeping the polished service, atmosphere and culinary approach that helped establish the downtown steakhouse as one of Denver’s most recognized restaurants.
Guard said the concept reflects a long standing personal connection to seafood.
“I practically grew up in the ocean,” Guard said. “I spent my first 21 years in Hawaii, Seattle and San Diego, so seafood has always been at the center of how I cook and how I think about food.”
The Denver Tech Center has been a target market for Guard for years. TAG Restaurant Group already operates Los Chingones in the area, and Guard previously considered the 8100 E. Union Ave. space nearly 5 years ago.
The new restaurant is expected to feature a raw bar, open kitchen and large patio. The footprint will be comparable to the downtown Guard and Grace location. Seafood will play a larger role on the menu, though guests can also expect prime steaks, wood fired dishes, fresh pasta and the elevated dining experience associated with Guard and Grace.
The lease comes during a broader expansion period for TAG Restaurant Group. Guard and Grace is also preparing to open a 3rd location in Charlotte, North Carolina, at Queensbridge Collective in fall 2026. TRG is also planning a new HashTAG location in Wheat Ridge during the same timeframe.
