Since breaking ground last summer, the 102,000-square-foot athletic country club has gone from graded dirt to a nearly complete shell, and interest has kept pace: the membership waitlist has now surged past 7,500 people ahead of a targeted fall 2026 opening.
Life Time's choice of this corner is easy to read once you look at the map. The site sits directly off the Castle Pines Parkway interchange at I-25, giving the club regional visibility and easy access for members well beyond Castle Pines proper, while still anchoring the commercial core of The Canyons, a planned development built around roughly 2 million square feet of future business space. Douglas County has been one of the Denver metro's fastest-growing and highest-income counties for years, and Castle Pines itself has lacked a large-format athletic club of this scale, leaving a gap Life Time is now positioned to fill for a customer base that has typically driven to Lone Tree or the Denver Tech Center for comparable amenities.
The build carries a maximum height of 50.67 feet and a floor area ratio of 17.10 percent under its approved site improvement plan, a revision to an earlier 2021 filing. Parking totals 560 spaces against a 526-space requirement set by city code and the Canyonside design guidelines.
Once open, the club will offer four indoor and five outdoor pickleball courts, indoor and outdoor lap and leisure pools, a waterslide, private cabanas, a poolside bistro, a LifeCafe, a Kids Academy, a full-service spa and salon, a hydrotherapy suite, five dedicated fitness studios, basketball courts, and more than 40 class formats. The project is expected to employ roughly 300 full-time and part-time workers.
Membership enrollment begins this month, with Life Time's concierge team contacting waitlist entries in the order they signed up. The 7,500-plus figure lands in good company: Life Time's Wheat Ridge club drew more than 13,000 inquiries ahead of its April 2024 opening, and Boulder followed last May with its own strong pre-opening demand, becoming the company's eighth Colorado location.
Castle Pines arrives as part of the most aggressive expansion in Life Time's 30-plus-year history. The company plans to open 12 to 14 new athletic country clubs nationally in 2026, its largest annual class to date, pushing into first-time markets including Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, New York, Florida, and North Carolina alongside continued growth here in Colorado.
Recent openings this year include Life Time Alston Town Center in Cary, North Carolina in February, and two Phoenix-area clubs, Paradise Valley and Ocotillo, in April and May. Castle Pines is slated to open this fall alongside new clubs in Westfield, Indiana, Dayton, Ohio, and Sarasota, Florida, with additional locations planned for Brooklyn, Las Vegas, and beyond heading into 2027.
