Skyline Park is finally getting a full reimagining!
As part of the city’s $100 million investment into downtown, $5 million is going toward Phase 1 of the Skyline Park redesign. Located in the heart of 16th Street, the park is being transformed from an overlooked corridor into a vibrant public space full of life, history, and year-round activity.
The redesign begins with Block 2, between 15th and 16th along Arapahoe Street, and reflects input from thousands of community members.
New features include a water plaza that becomes an ice rink in the winter, a café and food truck grove, performance spaces, shaded gathering areas, and a Colorado-inspired garden created with the Denver Botanic Gardens.
The old stairways and walls are being removed to create open sightlines, soft edges, and natural materials that blend the urban environment with nature.
The historic Lawrence Halprin sculpture will be surrounded by greenery, lighting, and seating, helping to reestablish Skyline Park as the cultural front yard of Denver.
Arapahoe Street will also be narrowed to create a more pedestrian and bike-friendly space that connects to the energy of the 16th Street Mall.
This is not just a landscaping upgrade. It is a civic investment in connection, curiosity, and the kind of downtown people want to spend time in.
