After breaking ground in October 2024, the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line is now well into visible construction, with new bus station platforms and infrastructure starting to take shape along the corridor.

The transformation is especially noticeable in Segments 1 through 3, from Broadway to Niagara Street, where lane closures, station installations, and utility work are currently underway.

Designed to move more than 22,000 daily riders faster and more efficiently, the BRT line will include dedicated bus lanes, enhanced ADA accessible stations, and real time arrival displays. Once complete, riders can expect a rail like experience at a fraction of the cost.

This will look like covered stations, level boarding, traffic signal priority, and safer pedestrian connections.

Construction is happening in phases along the south and north sides of Colfax, and current work stretches from Grant Street to Fairfax Street. Some intersections, like Pennsylvania and Marion, are seeing full street closures to allow for major infrastructure installation.

The goal is to get this corridor ready for a transit overhaul that redefines how people move through Denver.

The project will be rolled out in five segments, stretching from downtown to I225 in Aurora, and is expected to be fully complete by 2027.

The Colfax BRT is showing signs of life, even though some Colfax businesses are showing signs of the opposite.
