Construction is officially underway at 4965 N Washington St as Globeville’s long planned library and affordable housing hub moves from vision to reality.
The $132 million development will deliver 170 income restricted apartments alongside the neighborhood’s first permanent Denver Public Library branch.
Rising on a former car dealership site, the five story project combines housing, education, and community space into a single address, a first for Denver.
Units will serve households earning between 30%- 80% of area median income, with a mix of one to four bedroom layouts and a focus on larger family sized homes.
The ground floor will anchor the project with a full service library, community gathering spaces, and a locally operated café, helping establish the building as a neighborhood hub.
Designed as a mass timber structure, the 250,000 square foot building emphasizes sustainability while accelerating construction timelines.
The development is led by Globeville Redevelopment Partners, a collaboration between Evergreen Real Estate Group, Rocky Mountain Communities, and the Globeville Elyria Swansea Coalition, alongside the City of Denver and Denver Public Library.
Completion is expected in fall 2027, marking a major investment in a neighborhood that has long pushed for both affordable housing and access to public resources.
