The plan for 18th and Logan is taking shape as the Colorado Health Foundation advances its Tapestry Block vision. The foundation bought the former Mountain States Employer’s Council property to prevent another market rate buildout and instead pursue what Denver needs most: affordable homes for families. That decision set the tone for a project focused on rebuilding affordability in a neighborhood that has already priced out many working households.
The vision is to create a multigenerational and family centered community that supports health, stability and a real sense of belonging. The planning team anchored the work in equity and used a two year engagement process with residents, families, service providers and public agencies to define what the site should deliver. The goal is a place that supports safety, connection, agency, happiness and belonging.
The concept plan organizes the site around a shared community lawn with room for events, play and flexible gathering. Three residential buildings will offer roughly 240 affordable units and shared services including child care, a health clinic, workforce programs, small business space and food access. The layout prioritizes families with playgrounds, recreation areas, cultural spaces and accessible paths throughout the block.
Phasing starts with the two northern buildings and central plaza, establishing the core of the community first. Later phases will add for sale and senior housing while keeping a cohesive design across the full block. The vision is a single unified site that supports families through shared services, safe outdoor areas and integrated community programming.
