Clear Creek Crossing continues to evolve into one of metro Denver's fastest-growing mixed-use destinations, even after losing what was expected to be one of its biggest entertainment anchors.
Over the past several months, the development has reached several major milestones. Bonfire Burritos has officially opened its newest location, and The Lookout dining and entertainment district has progressed through vertical construction, with the Prost Biergarten nearing completion.
Bonfire Burritos now operates at 4001 Clear Creek Drive, serving its breakfast burritos, breakfast tacos, green chile and coffee bar daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. An order-ahead pickup lane is built into the site, designed for the area's growing residential and employment base, and gives the district a breakfast stop as residents, Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital employees, Life Time members and hotel guests continue filling in.
Just across the street, The Lookout has gone from mostly dirt less than a year ago to multiple vertical structures surrounding a central public park. Prost Brewing Co.'s fifth Colorado biergarten anchors the north side, The Agora at Applewood will bring six independently operated concepts including an Italian market, family-friendly pub, Irish bar with golf simulators, rooftop bar, cocktail lounge, raw bar, ice cream shop and juice concept, and chef Troy Guard's HashTAG restaurant anchors the south building.
The park will include an agriculture-inspired playground, community lawn, fire pits, small amphitheater and a direct connection to the Clear Creek Trail.
Dave & Buster's has withdrawn its plans for the development's southeast corner, dropping what would have been a major entertainment anchor despite unanimous Planning Commission approval earlier this year. Neighbors argued the venue was incompatible with the surrounding area. The withdrawal also lines up with Dave & Buster's broader pullback on ground-up construction in favor of remodeling existing locations, following a 5.4% decline in comparable-store sales.
Momentum elsewhere has not slowed. A Bank of America is under construction, a 118-room Home2 Suites by Hilton continues rising, Charles Schwab appears to be advancing toward development, and The Lookout is nearing completion.
The former Dave & Buster's parcel sits open again along one of the development's most visible frontages on Interstate 70, leaving Clear Creek Crossing's mix of restaurants, recreation, hospitality, healthcare and housing to keep building toward one of the metro's most significant emerging mixed-use destinations.
