Cherry Creek Shopping Center is preparing for a major redevelopment as owner Simon Property Group launches a nationwide investment program aimed at modernizing several flagship malls.
The Denver mall is one of three properties included in Simon’s more than $250 million redevelopment plan, alongside The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville and International Plaza in Tampa. The investment follows Simon’s full acquisition and management control of the properties after purchasing them from Taubman Realty Group.
At Cherry Creek, the redevelopment will focus on enhancing the center’s luxury retail experience. Plans include modernized flagship store spaces, architectural upgrades and refreshed storefronts designed to create a stronger environment for high end retailers and shoppers.
The timing aligns with a broader surge of investment across the Cherry Creek district. Just west of the mall, the large scale Cherry Creek West redevelopment is preparing to move forward with new mixed use buildings, retail space and a public park. Across the street, the Cherry Lane project is also under construction and will introduce additional housing and street level retail.
Together, the projects signal a new phase of growth for Cherry Creek as one of Denver’s most active development districts. The planned improvements are intended to reinforce Cherry Creek Shopping Center’s role as the region’s leading luxury retail destination as the surrounding neighborhood continues to evolve.
