Call Your Mother Deli is expanding again in Denver, with its newest Colorado location set to open Wednesday, September 23, at the Happy Canyon Shopping Center in southeast Denver. The D.C.-born deli will occupy 5074 E. Hampden Avenue in the Southmoor Park neighborhood, just north of Cherry Hills Village.
Founded by Andrew Dana and James Beard Award finalist Chef Daniela Moreira, Call Your Mother is best known for its bagels, oversized deli sandwiches and colorful neighborhood-focused shops. The company first entered Colorado in 2023 and has since continued expanding its presence in the market.
The Happy Canyon location takes on a sports-inspired design intended to feel more like a neighborhood clubhouse than a traditional deli. Upcycled sporting equipment sourced from local arc Thrift Stores is incorporated throughout the space, alongside the bright colors and playful design elements that have become part of the Call Your Mother brand. The shop will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including a large community table inside.
The full menu will be available, including bagel sandwiches such as the Jetski, made with brisket, pastrami, sofrito and jalapeños. Other offerings include housemade black and white cookies, babka muffins, locally roasted coffee and seasonal beverages, along with catering for offices, events and other gatherings.
The opening also adds another food tenant to a Happy Canyon Shopping Center that has been gradually reshuffling its lineup. Birdcall opened at the center earlier this year, while the large grocery space once planned for Amazon Fresh remains vacant. The former Starbucks backfill puts another active storefront along the Hampden side of the property while continuing the center’s shift toward a larger concentration of food and beverage tenants.
Tweed Studio of Denver was listed as architect of record for the Call Your Mother build-out, with Proficient Engineering handling MEP design and Acme Restaurant Equipment preparing the foodservice plans.
Call Your Mother launched in 2018 and has grown from a farmers market bagel stand into a 15-location operation spanning Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Its bagels combine elements of New York and Montreal styles, with a boiled exterior, honey influence, real malt and a smaller center designed to hold the shop's larger sandwiches.
The Happy Canyon shop opens September 23 and will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays and 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
