1900 Lawrence Street

Chef Troy Guard and TAG Restaurant Group have unveiled Barbara, a new restaurant coming to the ground floor of 1900 Lawrence in Downtown Denver, with an opening planned for fall 2027.

Named after Guard’s mother, Barbara, a former flight attendant whose career took her around the world, the restaurant will draw inspiration from travel and the places that have shaped Guard’s culinary career. From Hawaii to Hong Kong, Singapore, New York and Denver, those experiences will come together through a globally inspired menu featuring Guard’s signature bold flavors and modern approach to hospitality.

“When people ask why I’m doing this restaurant, the answer is my mom,” Guard said. “Barbara welcomed everyone to her table, she noticed beauty everywhere she went, she collected stories instead of souvenirs.”

Barbara will add a major food and beverage component to 1900 Lawrence, one of the most significant new office towers completed in Downtown Denver in recent years. The 30-story tower includes nearly 720,000 square feet of office space and approximately 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. Its growing tenant roster includes Gibson Dunn, Reed Smith, D.A. Davidson, Marsh McLennan, Monfort Companies, Cooper Carry and Spring Fertility Denver.

The announcement also comes during a renewed period of Colorado expansion for Guard. TAG Restaurant Group is preparing to open G&G Surf Club, another entirely new concept, in the Denver Tech Center later this fall. Guard also renewed the lease for flagship Guard and Grace downtown in 2024, opened the third and largest HashTAG location downtown in 2025, and will expand the brand to Wheat Ridge this fall.

With Barbara and G&G Surf Club representing two new concepts, along with continued investment in his existing restaurants, Guard appears to be turning his attention back toward growth in Colorado. The longtime Denver restaurateur first arrived in the city in 2002 and opened TAG on Larimer Square in 2009 before growing TAG Restaurant Group into multiple concepts and expanding outside the state.

Additional details on Barbara’s menu, design and full concept will be announced as the project moves toward its fall 2027 opening at 1900 Lawrence.
