ALDI is marking its upcoming 50th anniversary in the U.S. with a major expansion that includes its first entry into Colorado.
The discount grocer announced plans to open more than 180 new stores nationwide by the end of 2026. Colorado is a priority market, with more than 50 locations planned for the Denver and Colorado Springs areas.
The new stores will be supported by a regional distribution center in Aurora, projected to open in 2029. ALDI is also developing distribution centers in Baldwin, Florida, and Goodyear, Arizona. Each facility is expected to create hundreds of jobs and support local economic growth.
By the end of 2026, ALDI expects to operate nearly 2,800 stores across the U.S., moving closer to its long term goal of 3,200 locations by the end of 2028. The company said the expansion responds to sustained demand for affordable groceries, with 17 million new customers shopping at ALDI in 2025.
ALDI also plans to launch a new digital shopping experience in 2026 aimed at improving online ordering and convenience.
“One in three U.S. households shopped at ALDI this past year, and in 2026 we are focused on making it even easier for customers to shop our aisles first,” said Atty McGrath, CEO of ALDI U.S.
By 2028, ALDI will have invested $9 billion over five years to expand its store footprint, strengthen its supply chain, and upgrade its digital platforms.
