The former Lutheran Medical Center campus is beginning a new chapter as Legacy, a 100-acre neighborhood that blends housing, open space, and preserved history.
Located between 32nd and 38th Avenues, east of Dudley Street, the site that once served generations of patients will evolve into a place for living, walking, and gathering.
Plans led by Colorado-based E5X Management include 1,536 homes across a range of types such as multi-family residences, townhomes, duplexes, single-family homes, and senior apartments. The concept focuses on walkability and open space, with tree-lined streets, trails, and small parks connecting each area.
A new Civic Center will serve as a focal point for community events and recreation. The Blue House and historic chapel will remain as reminders of the site’s past, while new elements like the Rocky Mountain Trail and Rocky Mountain Park will add opportunities for outdoor activity and connection.
Legacy represents a shift in how this land will serve Wheat Ridge, from a center of healing to a neighborhood designed for daily life.
For those wondering about the hospital, Lutheran Medical Center has already moved into a new facility a few miles west at Clear Creek Crossing, continuing its long history of care in the community.
