Clara Brown Commons is rapidly rising on York Street along the wester border of the Cole neighborhood.
Clara Brown Commons will be a mixed-use, community focused affordable housing community. The development is named after Colorado pioneer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Clara Brown, who cared for the poor, ran a business and spent her time and fortune to help formerly enslaved people attend college or start new lives in Colorado.
The Clara Brown Commons community is dedicated in her honor with the hope of inspiring the community to follow her legacy of compassion, generosity and neighborly love.
The Community will feature multiple housing options including for sale townhomes developed by Habit for Humanity and a 61-unit rental building developed by Mile High Ministries. Weave Social Finance and Impact Investment Consulting also played a hand in turning this vision into a reality.
Clara Brown Commons is anticipated to have a strong presence in the Cole neighborhood which is experiencing a great revitalization with spill over development from RiNo to the West and the proposed Rock Drill redevelopment to the North.
The 61-unit rental building will feature one to three bedroom units for residents earning up to 30% to 60% of the area median income, while the 18 for sale townhomes will be available for residents earning up to 80% of the area median income.
We'll check back towards the end of this year as the Clara Brown Commons works towards completion.
